‘Take it down!’: Rhodes Must Fall campaign marches through Oxford
The Guardian reports

In the honeyed-stone square behind Oriel College, a line of school students snaked over the cobbles, listening to an animated tour of Oxford’s heritage. But assembled on the other side of Oriel Square, more than 100 Oxford University students and supporters had gathered for a different tour: a radical retelling of the institution’s problematic colonial heritage, organised by the Rhodes Must Fall campaigners.

  1. Ahem! Pay attention now, there’s a good chap. The original and uncensored text was…

Oops, how on Earth did that get in there?

Wednesday’s demonstration, a “mass march for decolonisation”, was part of the continuing campaign for the removal of Oriel College’s statue of Cecil Rhodes, the Victorian imperialist who supported apartheid-style measures in southern Africa.
At midday, students gathered for a lively alternative walking tour of Oxford, to mark one year since the Rhodes Must Fall campaign began – originally in protest at a statue at the University of Cape Town and spreading to universities across the globe, including Oxford, Cambridge and Harvard.
A few words of wisdom which you might not find a tutor to teach you: you may not like everything that happened in history, but hiding it, ignoring it, doesn’t mean it never happened; it just means that you’ll likely to forget it happened and be doomed to repeat the same and worse. Student loan, expensive. Listening to real people, priceless!

Here’s someone else who could benefit from listening to real people.

    Wrong again Cameron
Also from The Guardian, you’re wrong on Sunday trading, Cameron. Even your own party says no to tinkering with the Sunday trading laws.
You may be blasé enough about your own family to leave your young daughter in a pub, but some of us enjoy having one day a week with our loved ones.

One way or another, time will show that you are wrong about the European Union too. You can’t negotiate with the EU any more than you can expect to be taken seriously for trying!
The deal you believe you have with the EU is no deal at all, as it has no legal backing and is therefore open for discussion and change. We don’t need the EU, and we certainly don’t need to sign our lives away to corporate servitude via the TTIP either.
    One is not amused
Apparently, according to the pro Euro BBC the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha are not pleased with tabloid newspaper (of a sort) The Sun

Buckingham Palace has complained to the press watchdog over the Sun newspaper’s article claiming the Queen backed “Brexit” from the European Union.
The Sun quotes anonymous sources, one of whom claims to have witnessed a “bust-up” between the Queen and pro-EU former Deputy PM Nick Clegg in 2011.
The palace insisted the Queen was “politically neutral” while Mr Clegg called the story “nonsense”.
But the Sun said it stood by its story and would defend itself “vigorously”

I guess it could be a little embarrassing as a top elitist if it ever got out that you believed yourself to be above the other world elites. Why else would you make such a song and dance about something in the gutter press?

Going full circle now, back to the students. Here’s a glimpse into the not too distant indoctrination system…

For some reason, maybe I’m a bigger threat than I anticipated, a large chunk has been censored by persons unknown. A bit cowardly, not even telling me why, let alone who you are!
